"In early May 2026, I travelled from Belgium to Tornado Alley for a one-week storm-chasing trip with Downburst Daan. It became an experience I will never forget. From the very first day, there was an enthusiastic atmosphere, and it immediately became clear how much knowledge and passion Daan has for extreme weather.

During the chase days, we not only witnessed a spectacular supercell with impressive lightning activity and thunderstorm structures — we also came very close to intercepting an EF-3 tornado. This took place in a week that also included its challenges: less favourable forecasts and the long distances covered as storm potential shifted from day to day.

Daan provided extensive explanations about meteorology, forecasting, and safety, which made the experience much more than simply 'chasing tornadoes.' Everything was carefully prepared at all times, even when decisions had to be made at very short notice. Safety always remained the top priority.

The absolute highlight was the moment a tornado formed in our vicinity — something you would normally only see in documentaries. The long drives, conversations on the road, and shared anticipation while waiting for storm development all became part of the charm of this journey.

What I will remember most is the combination of professionalism and passion. The week felt adventurous, but never reckless. For anyone with an interest in weather, photography, or adventure, this is a truly unique experience that I can highly recommend. I will definitely come back."
